The first IMI multiple-pointer/multiple-input application was designed, created, and demonstrated by James Fairs and Dan Schaaf in 2002. The Provisional patent covering this application was filed the following year. USPTO filings P001, P002, P002CIP, P003 and (now) P004 have followed...along with International GPT001, GPT002, and GPT002CIP.

Roughly thirty working demonstration applications have been created to illustrate the core Independent Multiple Input concepts of the Firm. Both independent multiple-user and bimanual applications were displayed in public forum meetings in 2003 and 2004. In the summer of 2005, the technologies were shown to various high profile retailers, industry sales representatives and other interested parties in conjunction with the NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchandisers).
